What would a thru hike adventure be without a trip to the emergency department!?
Yesterday , I spent all day in the Asheville Mission Hospital emergency room being poked and prodded. It took me a week to be able to get there. I’m ok. No surgery needed at this time but I will need to follow up with specialists at home. Pelvic prolapse with lots of bleeding. Needless to say I cannot continue to carry a pack and “live” in the woods.
I will now be “support” for Todd. I want him to get to Springer Mountain the southern terminus of the AT as planned before it gets too cold. I have a rental car and will help him slackpack where the trail allows.
It is sad that I can’t continue with him. This adventure continues just a bit differently than planned.
