The 100 Mile Wilderness is the homestretch of the northbound AT. It is the most isolated 100 miles on the Trail, with very few roads, no towns and only occasional sketchy cell coverage.

We began to catch our first glimpses of Mount Katahdin, the northern end of the AT. It is barely visible in the distance (see purple circle).

Gradually, we drew closer.

At Abol Bridge, very close to the end of the 100 Mile Wilderness, Katahdin began to loom large.

We camped nearby and were treated to a spectacular sunset.

The next day, we began to climb up the 5267 foot mountain. The slope is very steep with boulder fields perched precariously on the slopes.

After a few hours, we summitted at the iconic sign.
